Storm door installation cost by style
| Door style | Installed price | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Mid-view or high-view door | $300–$780 | The most common replacement |
| Full-view door | $400–$950 | More glass, higher price |
| Retractable or self-storing screen door | $375–$750 | The screen retracts out of sight |
| Security door | $550–$1,000 | Heavier frame and locks |
| Double door | $800–$1,800 | For double entry doors; takes longer to install |
These are installed prices per door, covering the door and the labor, with the labor share adjusted for your state. Removing the old door is a separate line in the calculator. Set the number of doors to see the total.
What changes the price
Style is the biggest factor: a basic mid-view or high-view door costs least, glass-heavy and retractable-screen doors cost more, and security and double doors cost the most. Glass upgrades such as low-E or beveled panes add to the door price, and a door sized for an opening that does not fit a standard unit can mean reframing, which the guides we read price separately from a normal install.
Extra costs to expect
| Item | Typical cost | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Remove and dispose of the old door | $50–$150 per door | Replacing an existing storm door |
Ask whether the quote includes weatherstripping, hardware and a closer, and whether the installer measures the opening first. A professional install usually takes only a few hours for a standard door.
Questions to ask before you hire
- Is the price for the door and labor together?
- Does the quote include removal of the old door?
- Will the opening need reframing or shimming?
- What brand and glass type is the door, and what is the warranty?
- Is hardware, a closer and weatherstripping included?

We price each door style as an installed total per door, adjust the labor share for your state's carpenter wages, and price removal of the old door separately. Read how we estimate costs.

Common questions about storm door installation costs
How much does storm door installation cost?
A typical job (mid-view or high-view door) comes to about $450 nationally, within a range of $300 to $780. Use the calculator above to adjust for your state, the options you choose and any extras.
Where do these prices come from?
They come from 3 published cost pages from 3 publishers, last checked Oct 8, 2026. We report what those pages say and do not invent figures; the table above shows each source.
How does my state change the estimate?
The labor part of the price is scaled by the average wage for the relevant trade in your state, using Bureau of Labor Statistics data. Materials and equipment are not adjusted.
Why might a contractor's quote differ from this estimate?
A quote reflects your specific scope, access, local demand and what the contractor includes. Ask for line items rather than a single total so you can compare bids on the same basis.
