Concrete leveling cost per square foot by method
| Method | Installed price | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Mudjacking (cement slurry) | $3–$9 | Cement slurry pumped under the slab to lift it |
| Polyurethane foam (polyjacking) | $5–$25 | Polyurethane foam injected under the slab |
| Stone slurry grout | $6–$15 | A thicker stone and cement grout; one guide only |
| Self-leveling compound (interior floor) | $1–$5 | A poured compound for an interior floor, not for sunken slabs |
The guides agree that foam costs more than mud, and disagree on how much. Fixr's page contradicts itself on mudjacking, so we used it only as a loose cross-check, and Forbes Home lists slab jacking in general at $3 to $20 per square foot. Self-leveling compound is a different job: it smooths an interior floor, while the other three lift a slab that has sunk.
What changes the price
- Method. Foam costs more per square foot than mudjacking.
- Size of the slab. Bigger slabs cost more in total, but contractors set a minimum, so small patches cost more per square foot.
- How far it has sunk. A deeper void takes more material.
- Access. A slab that is hard to reach takes more labor.
- Where you live. The calculator adjusts the labor share for your state's concrete finisher wages.
Minimum fees and typical jobs
Angi lists a $150 trip fee and HomeGuide a minimum job fee of $300 to $700 or more. Here is what the calculator gives for three common jobs.
| Job | Size | Mudjacking | Polyurethane foam |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sidewalk section | 100 sq ft | $300–$900 | $500–$2,500 |
| Garage floor | 360 sq ft | $1,080–$3,240 | $1,800–$9,000 |
| Driveway | 450 sq ft | $1,350–$4,050 | $2,250–$11,250 |
As a cross-check, Thumbtack puts the average mudjacking project at $903 to $3,192. If a slab has settled because of what is under the house, the cause may be bigger than the slab. See foundation repair cost, and for slabs beyond saving driveway replacement cost. Water pooling near the house can be part of the problem; see French drain installation cost.
Questions to ask before you hire
- Is the price per square foot or a flat project price, and what is the minimum fee?
- Which method do you recommend for this slab, and why?
- What causes the slab to sink, and will it sink again?
- Does the price include drilling, patching the holes and cleanup?
- What warranty comes with the work?
Methodology and sources
We price each method per square foot from three published guides, take the middle of their lows, midpoints and highs, and adjust the labor share for your state's wages. Thumbtack and Forbes Home are used as independent cross-checks. Read how we estimate costs.

Common questions about concrete leveling costs
How much does concrete leveling cost?
A typical job (360 sq ft, mudjacking) comes to about $1,980 nationally, within a range of $1,080 to $3,240. Use the calculator above to adjust for your state, the options you choose and any extras.
How much does it cost to level a 360 sq ft concrete slab?
About $1,080–$3,240 with mudjacking and $1,800–$9,000 with polyurethane foam. A 360 sq ft slab is about the size of a two-car garage floor.
What is the concrete leveling cost per square foot?
Mudjacking costs about $3–$9, polyurethane foam $5–$25, stone slurry grout $6–$15 and self-leveling compound $1–$5, all per square foot.
How much does it cost to level a sidewalk?
A 100 sq ft section costs about $300–$900 with mudjacking or $500–$2,500 with foam. Small jobs run into the contractor's minimum fee.
How much does it cost to level a concrete driveway?
A 450 sq ft driveway costs about $1,350–$4,050 with mudjacking or $2,250–$11,250 with foam. If the slab is cracked or broken, replacing it may make more sense; see the driveway replacement cost page.
Is polyjacking more expensive than mudjacking?
Yes, in every guide we read. Foam costs about $5–$25 per square foot against $3–$9 for mudjacking, and the ranges overlap at the low end of foam and the high end of mud.
Is there a minimum charge for concrete leveling?
Yes. Angi lists a $150 trip fee and HomeGuide a minimum job fee of $300 to $700 or more, so a small patch costs more per square foot than the table shows.
How much does self-leveling compound cost for an indoor floor?
About $1–$5 per square foot. It levels a floor from above rather than lifting a sunken slab from below.
How much do contractors charge on average for mudjacking?
Thumbtack puts the average mudjacking project at $903 to $3,192. The calculator's 360 sq ft starting point, $1,080–$3,240, overlaps that range.
Where do these prices come from?
They come from 3 published cost pages from 3 publishers, last checked Oct 9, 2026. We report what those pages say and do not invent figures; the table above shows each source.
How does my state change the estimate?
The labor part of the price is scaled by the average wage for the relevant trade in your state, using Bureau of Labor Statistics data. Materials and equipment are not adjusted.
Why might a contractor's quote differ from this estimate?
A quote reflects your specific scope, access, local demand and what the contractor includes. Ask for line items rather than a single total so you can compare bids on the same basis.
